When I applied for my job, the traineeship came with the position. I hadn’t originally planned on doing a traineeship, but looking back I’m really glad I did. It gave me the chance to gain a qualification while working, and I was able to learn new skills and use them in the workplace straight away.
The best part has been being able to learn something and then put it into practice at work. It made everything easier to understand because I could see how it applied in a real workplace. It also helped me build my confidence as I gained more experience.
The team at UNE Partnerships has been really supportive throughout my traineeship. They were always happy to answer any questions I had and explained things clearly whenever I needed help. Their support made it much easier to balance work, study and completing my assessments.
I chose a traineeship over full-time traditional studying because I knew I wanted to work in fitness and go to university. This traineeship gave me an opportunity to explore the fitness world, work alongside exercise professionals and learn valuable knowledge.
The best part of gaining a new skill and immediately applying it to my actual day-to-day job is being able to make a difference in someone’s life.
The team at UNE partnerships has supported me in balancing work and study by accommodating me through every step of the way. They have helped me stay on track of my online school work, assist me with valuable feedback to apply to my assessment tasks, and continually motivate me to strive for excellence.
My traineeship has built my confidence tremendously and has solidified my future career goals. I came into the workplace with minimal amounts of knowledge on how everything worked. As I progressed through days of work and online school work, my confidence has skyrocketed. I am now extremely confident in engaging in conversations with clients, assisting them with exercises or form, creating new exercises, setting out fitness circuits, handling 1 on 1 client sessions alone, motivating clients to push harder or try something new. This has solidified my goals to become either a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist, my traineeship has shown me my future potential to become one of these professions and make a real impact on people’s daily lives.
I chose this because it was an area of work that I was interested in, but wasn’t sure what specifically I wanted to do within working with people to improve mental health. I did this because I could get a feel of working in a health environment, while also studying, so I didn’t have to commit to a full time course in case I decided to work in another area.
By breaking the courses down into manageable bits and assisting me to go one step at a time with the work and being available to answer questions.
