Queensland Fees and Funding (2025–2028)

The Queensland Government Department of Education and Training offers a range of initiatives to make study more affordable.

UNE Partnerships are pleased to be able to offers subsidised training under the following Queensland Government programs:

  • Career Start: for those starting their career
  • Career Boost: for those wanting to advance their skills
  • Traineeships: for those wanting to learn on the job

These programs (available from 2025 – 2028) are funded by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET).

Career Start Program

Career Start supports Queenslanders with foundational and entry-level vocational education and training (VET) to help them:

  • Enter the workforce
  • Upskill in their current job
  • Move into an apprenticeship or traineeship

UNE Partnerships can offer the following subsidised course:

If you are eligible for subsidised training the Queensland Government will pay most of your course fees, however you will still be required to make a small contribution (see fees section below) which is available for:

  • One Certificate III qualification (general pathway) and/or
  • Up to two apprenticeships or traineeships at a Certificate II or III level
  • One introductory skill set (if eligible)

Career Boost Program

Career Boost supports Queenslanders with higher-level training to advance careers or prepare for further study (e.g. university).

Subsidised training is available for:

  • One Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma
  • One apprenticeship or traineeship at Certificate IV or above
  • Up to two priority industry skill sets

UNE Partnerships can offer the following subsidised course:

Prospective students are only eligible for one subsidised training place under the Higher Level Skills program. Completing a course under this program may affect your eligibility for other subsidised programs.

Traineeships

Traineeships provide you with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain a formal qualification that relate to your job. We are approved to deliver the following program as a Traineeship in Queensland:

Current Enrolment Must not currently be enrolled in another qualification (even if your other enrolment is deferred or on-hold) (Same as Career Start) (Same as Career Start)

Student Contribution

The following table outlines the student contribution for Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) and Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting in Queensland. The concession fee below includes all training materials.

Extra funding is available for eligible students including:

  • Concession card holders
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • People with disability
  • Adult prisoners
  • Students needing Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) support
  • Students in regional and remote areas (e.g. Cape York, Torres Strait) may also benefit from location loadings
