Course Duration
  • Two years across year 11 and 12
  • Four units towards your HSC
  • Mandatory 120 hours of Work Placement
Entry Requirements
  • Commence in term 1 Year 11
  • Have an interest in field of study and desire to commit to the course requirements
  • Must be able to complete 120 hours Work Placement, usually in school holidays or other times throughout the school term as approved by your school
  • Must provide evidence of current vaccinations including COVID-19 and Flu*
  • Have a clear Criminal history check
  • NDIS Worker screening check
  • Must obtain approval from your School Career Advisor

 

*Employers have varied requirements and we encourage students to undertake own research on the vaccinations required to work in Allied Health or Health related professions

Delivery Methods

Blended learning including:

  • Face-to-face classroom delivery at school
  • Work Placement of 120 hours in a real workplace

Theory and Practical assessment including:

  • Knowledge theory tasks and
  • Practical demonstration

Graduate Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), students will have the skills and knowledge to:

  1. Provide person-centred support that empowers individuals with disabilities to live independently and make choices about their care and lifestyle.
  2. Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, meal preparation, and household tasks, tailored to each client’s needs.
  3. Promote social inclusion and community participation, helping clients engage in recreational, educational, and employment opportunities.
  4. Communicate effectively and respectfully, including using alternative communication methods to support clients with diverse needs.
  5. Apply safe work practices and ethical standards, including infection control, manual handling, and understanding legal responsibilities in disability support.

Nationally Recognised Training (NRT)

  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is a Nationally Recognised Qualification.
  • On successful completion of this qualification, you will be issued with an Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Certificate and Record of Results.

  • Pathway to Nursing or Further Study – Use this qualification as a stepping stone to further education in nursing, allied health, or community services.

CHCCCS041 – Recognise healthy body systems

Gain knowledge of basic human anatomy and physiology to monitor and report changes in health status.

CHCCOM005 – Communicate and work in health or community services

Learn effective communication techniques for working with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people

Explore how to work respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds.

CHCLEG001 – Work legally and ethically

Understand the legal and ethical responsibilities of support workers, including confidentiality and duty of care.

HLTINF006 – Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control

Learn how to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of infection in care environments.

HLTWHS002 – Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Develop skills to identify hazards, manage risks, and ensure safety for both clients and workers.
